Sassara Vini wines Garneau Block

Situated just outside Verona, in the Morainic Hills near Lake Garda, Vini Sassara is a new project from longtime natural winemakers Alessia and Stefano Bertaiola. With a background in agricultural research and development, Alessia joined forces with third-generation winemaker Stefano more than a decade ago and together they farm a 10-hectare site that has been in Stefano’s family for 50 years. They took over the property in 2007, and with Alessia's strong background in agricultural research and development, quickly converted each plot to biodynamic farming. This is Bardolino country, a DOC in the Veneto region most famous for its Valpolicella-style light reds and rosé wines. But being natural winemakers, Alessia and Stefano are less concerned with what conventional winemakers are doing in the area and instead have set out to show what the indigenous grapes and Bardolino terroir are capable of when allowed to express themselves naturally.

Sassara Vini Esotico

Esotico

Corvina, Rossanella, Rondinella, Molinara, Fernanda, Moscato, Trebbianello, Trebbiano, Garganega, Tocai

10.5% ABV

Winemaking: Is it red? Is it pink? Is it orange? Who cares?! 30% red grapes (Corvina, Rossanella, Rondinella, Molinara) and 70% white grapes (Fernanda, Moscato, Trebbianello, Trebbiano, Garganega, Tocai), all from old vines. Hand harvested and spontaneously co-fermented with 10 days of skin maceration and without temperature control. Aged in stainless steel. No filtering or fining and no added sulfur.

Tasting notes:

VERY YUMMY. Super fun, easy and light Italian glouglou! with notes of Rhubarb, Vanilla Cream, Cherry Compot and Peach Iced Tea!

Misia

Garganega, Trebbiano and Tocai

11% ABV

Winemaking:

3 days of maceration, aged in stainless steel tank. Ambient yeast. Unfined, unfiltered, no SO2.

Tasting notes:

This wine is all about the rocks — Alessia’s ancient-seabed-soils bringing out salinity, freshness, and a cool serenity, all a part of that distinctly northern sensibility. Gentle yet bursting with flavor — juicy peach and tropical notes — alongside a burst of ripe, tingly citrus

Ciaro

Winemaking

Direct press without any maceration of the skins. Ambient yeast. Unfined, unfiltered, no SO2.

Tasting notes:

Such a well balanced rosato. Light, dry and mineral, with succulent notes of clementine.

Goto Bardolino

Corvina, Rondinella Molinara 

11% ABV

Winemaking:

 Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara, 6 days of skin contact, in plastic vats, with manual punchdowns.  Hand picked, spontaneous ferment, aged in amfora. No SO2 added, unfined, unfiltered, no temperature control.

Tasting notes:

Bright cherry glouglou! Cranberry mineral water, salted raspberries, lingonberry cream, blood orange juice, and rhubarb.

Vin De Anfoa

100% Garganega 

12% ABV

Winemaking:

100% Graganega with 2 months on the skins. Hand picked, spontaneous ferment, aged in amphora. No SO2 added, unfined, unfiltered, no temperature control.

Tasting notes:

This is a fun and very easy drinking orange wine. A tropical fruit melange in a glass.

Vin de Famea

Winemaking

Made in the "Ripasso style". Fifteen days of skin maceration in plastic vats and still tanks with manual punching down. Aged in steel tanks, without temperature control. Ambient yeast. Unfined, unfiltered, no SO2.

Crunchy, zesty and mineral with notes of blackberry and thyme.

Pinot Griso

100% Pinot Grigio

12% ABV

Winemaking:

100% Pinot Grigio with 12 days skin maceration. Spontaneous fermentation without temperature control. Aged in stainless steel. No filtering or fining and minimal sulfur added as necessary.

Tart cherry, hibiscus, blood orange.

Coconar Orange

100% Garganega

Tasting notes:

Great minerality, light tannins, with aromas of ripe apricots, coconut cream, and black tea.

Corvo Fizz

100% Corvina


12% ABV

Winemaking:

100% Corvina with 5-7 days skin contact, naturally re-fermented in the bottles thanks to the warm spring season. Aged in steel tanks. No sulphur added, no filtration and no temperature control.

Tasting notes:
Clean, and refreshing, cherries with a hint of almonds.
